Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about cutting, splitting, codec preservation, privacy, and exporting with SliceFlow.

General & Functionality

What is SliceFlow and how does it differ from regular video trimmers?↓

SliceFlow is a specialized sequential video part cutter and segment studio. Unlike typical online video editors that only trim a single beginning and end point, SliceFlow allows you to isolate a timeframe and automatically slice it into multiple sequential clips (e.g. part_1.mp4, part_2.mp4...) with fixed duration intervals and automatic leftover handling, ready for instant batch ZIP export.

Is SliceFlow 100% free to use?↓

Yes, SliceFlow is completely free with no paywalls, no trial limits, and no watermarks added to your exported videos. We support server operating costs and updates via non-intrusive advertisements.

Do I need to create an account or sign in to use SliceFlow?↓

No registration or login is required. You can start uploading and splitting videos immediately upon visiting the homepage.

Can I use SliceFlow on mobile devices (iOS / Android)?↓

Yes! SliceFlow features a fully responsive touch-friendly interface compatible with mobile Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Samsung Internet on smartphones and tablets.

Video Quality, Codecs & Formats

Does SliceFlow reduce or degrade the original video quality?↓

No. When using our default "Stream Copy" mode, SliceFlow extracts packets directly at keyframe boundaries without decompressing or re-encoding video streams. This results in mathematically 100% lossless output that preserves original resolution, frame rate, color profile (HDR/SDR), and bitrate.

What video containers and file formats are supported?↓

SliceFlow supports all major video containers including MP4, MOV (QuickTime), MKV (Matroska), WebM, AVI, M4V, and FLV. Supported video codecs include H.264 (AVC), H.265 (HEVC), VP8, VP9, AV1, and ProRes, along with audio formats including AAC, MP3, AC3, Opus, and PCM.

What is the difference between Stream Copy and Re-encode mode?↓

Stream Copy mode copies raw compressed packets without re-encoding, finishing cuts in seconds with zero quality loss. Re-encode mode decodes and re-compresses every frame using standard H.264/AAC, allowing millisecond frame-accurate cuts at the expense of slight rendering time.

Security, Privacy & Storage

Are my uploaded videos permanently stored or shared on your servers?↓

Absolutely not. SliceFlow operates under a strict zero-retention privacy policy. Uploaded media and generated parts are placed into isolated, temporary sandbox directories that are automatically purged immediately after your download finishes or within 30 minutes of inactivity.

Do you view, scan, or use uploaded videos for AI training?↓

No. We do not inspect, catalog, index, or use user content for machine learning or third-party datasets. Your files are solely processed through standard FFmpeg binaries to perform the requested split operation.

Is the file transfer secure?↓

Yes, all traffic to and from SliceFlow is encrypted via industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols (SHA-256 with RSA encryption), ensuring your files cannot be intercepted in transit.

File Limits & Performance

What is the maximum file size I can split with SliceFlow?↓

SliceFlow supports video files up to 2GB in standard browser environments. For optimal processing speed, we recommend ensuring a stable broadband connection during upload.

Can I split videos into equal duration parts (e.g. 60-second clips)?↓

Yes! That is one of SliceFlow’s primary features. Simply input 60 into the "Part Duration" input, and SliceFlow will compute the exact number of parts and generate sequentially named files accordingly.

Can I download all generated parts in a single ZIP file?↓

Yes. Upon completion, the result view provides both individual download buttons for each clip as well as a prominent "Download All as ZIP" button for effortless batch downloading.

Social Media & Creator Workflows

What are the recommended split lengths for social media platforms?↓

Common platform limits include: WhatsApp Status (30 seconds), Instagram Stories (60 seconds), TikTok clips (60 to 180 seconds), and YouTube Shorts (60 seconds). SliceFlow includes convenient preset buttons for these exact lengths.

What happens if my video duration does not divide evenly by my interval?↓

SliceFlow calculates the remaining duration and creates a final partial segment containing the exact remaining footage. You will never lose the end of your video.
